Senate Resolution No. 2298

CONGRATULATING Minna Santiago upon the occasion of
receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette
Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second
highest achievement, on May 31, 2017
WHEREAS, Minna Santiago was honored with the Girl Scout Silver
Award, Cadette Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second
highest achievement; the 2017 Awards and Bridging Ceremony will be held
on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the Herricks Middle School in Albertson,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Minna Santiago is a member of the Herricks Association of
Girl Scouts of Nassau County; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people
the goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of
working with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride,
and encouraging community service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Minna Santiago's high character and commitment, and
is a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York State
and our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Minna Santiago, recognizing her achievement in earning the
Girl Scout Silver Award, and wishing her much success, health and
happiness; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Minna Santiago.
