COMMEMORATING the 30th Anniversary of the New
Hartford Senior Center on October 14, 2016

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those organizations which provide essential care and
supportive services for elderly and disabled people, and serve to
enhance the quality of life for our loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the New Hartford Senior Center; this
momentous occasion was celebrated on Friday, October 14, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Located on Sherman Street in New Hartford, New York, the
New Hartford Senior Center, offers a range of services and activities
some of which include, its senior wellness program, AARP defensive
driving classes, computer instruction classes, yoga and chair yoga
programs, and information for senior bus trips; and

WHEREAS, In addition, the Center coordinates a bridge players group,
pinochle players group, water color group, and a knitting and crochet
group; billiard tables are also available; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of its Director, Eileen Spellman,
this vital organization truly enhances the overall quality of life among
the senior population and is an asset within the community it so ably
serves; and

WHEREAS, This significant milestone is an excellent opportunity to
recognize the special contributions of the New Hartford Senior Center
and the dedicated individuals who strive to better the quality of life
for senior citizens in the community; and

WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the
quality of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and
self-worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and

WHEREAS, The success of the New Hartford Senior Center is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the New Hartford Senior Center on
October 14, 2016; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the New Hartford Senior Center, New Hartford, New York.
