HONORING General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant
upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the Community Involvement Award by Buffalo Business
First on May 16, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those businesses which substantially contribute to the
economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
honor General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Community Involvement Award by Buffalo
Business First at its 2017 Manufacturing Awards Ceremony celebrated on
Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Salvatore's Italian Gardens in Depew, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1938, the General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant
produces award-winning engines for its most desired products including
the Chevy Camaro and Corvette Stingray, Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon,
and Buick Regal; and

WHEREAS, General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant continues to thrive
and prosper; in 2010, General Motors awarded the Tonawanda Engine Plant
two new product lines; six years later, the parent company invested
$295.9 million for future engine production in Tonawanda; and

WHEREAS, The success of General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its Plant Manager, Steve Finch;
Personnel Director, Paul Emond; Assistant Plant Manager, Alison
McIntosh; and Community Relations Manager, Nina Heard; and its 1,695
local employees, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the institution and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Community Involvement Award by Buffalo
Business First on May 16, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Steve Finch, Plant Manager, General Motors Tonawanda
Engine Plant.
