HONORING Caitlin May upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
27, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Caitlin May
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated at its
Fourth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Kuhl's
Highland House, Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and

WHEREAS, Caitlin May has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Port Jervis High School, in Port Jervis, New
York, Caitlin May will be attending Alfred University in Alfred, New
York, this fall; she plans to major in Fine Arts with a minor in
Pre-Law; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Caitlin May has been a
member of the school's choir and art department; she has also served the
Drama Club as assistant back stage manager; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Caitlin May has helped with ASK
Elementary School's productions and this year's HBE School show; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Caitlin May has been involved in the town's
local haunted house, The Farnum House Haunting, as a key member in The
Core Group and as a special effects makeup artist; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Caitlin May
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Caitlin May may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Caitlin May represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor

this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Caitlin May upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Caitlin May.
