COMMEMORATING Harbor Fitness' 10th Annual Race for
Autism on June 11, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that the quality
of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly enriched by its
exceptional cultural, educational and recreational institutions and
events; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate Harbor Fitness' 10th Annual Race for Autism on Sunday, June
11, 2017, beginning and ending at the club on Fourth Avenue in Bay
Ridge, Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Harbor Fitness' Race for Autism is a 5k Run/Walk
benefitting the HeartShare School in Brooklyn, New York; this year's
event will also include an outdoor Zumba class, as well as a party for
children including rides, attractions, food and refreshments; and
WHEREAS, HeartShare and its Family of Services have more than 100
programs in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island; and
WHEREAS, HeartShare Human Services and the HeartShare School
encourage greater independence for children and adults with intellectual
disabilities through residential, educational, health care, employment,
life skills and case management, as well as recreational programs; and
WHEREAS, With such a dramatic increase in cases of children with
autism and such a large proportion of them in New York City, innovative
programs such as HeartShare are critical in helping these children
receive the services they need; and
WHEREAS, The Race for Autism promotes a healthy lifestyle with a
focus on fun, family and community spirit; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Race for Autism is in direct correlation
to the efforts of Chris and Mike Ganim, Owners of Harbor Fitness, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the event and the community it
serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Harbor Fitness'
Race for Autism; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations and events of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate Harbor Fitness' 10th Annual Race for Autism on June 11,
2017; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chris and Mike Ganim, Owners, Harbor Fitness.
