COMMENDING Kenneth D. Daly, President of National
Grid upon his designation for special recognition by
Kingsborough Community College on June 22, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Kenneth D. Daly, President of National Grid upon his designation
for special recognition by Kingsborough Community College to be
celebrated at its 12th Annual Seaside Splash Scholarship Gala "An
Evening by the Shore - Summer White Party" on Thursday, June 22, 2017,
at the Lighthouse in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Daly earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in
English from St. Francis College; he furthered his education by
obtaining his Master's in Business Administration degree in Finance from
St. John's University, and a Master of Science degree in Human Resource
Management from New York University; and

WHEREAS, In 2002, Kenneth D. Daly achieved the distinguished
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and completed the Harvard
University Advanced Management Program in 2014; and

WHEREAS, In 1988, Kenneth D. Daly joined National Grid's
predecessor, Brooklyn Union, which later became KeySpan, as a Management
Trainee in the Customer Relations Department; throughout his 29-year
career, he has held numerous positions in finance, human resources and
customer relations; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth D. Daly served as the CFO of the United States and
United Kingdom gas distributions businesses; for the last two years, he
has been based in London, holding the title of Global Financial
Controller; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his work with National Grid, Kenneth D. Daly
is a member of the Saint Francis College Board of Trustees, and has
served as an adjunct professor teaching human resource, business and
finance courses for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Since 1992, Kenneth D. Daly has held the position of
Director of the St. John's University Executive-in-Residence Program; he
is also a vital member of the David Rockefeller "Fellows Program," the
Long Island Energeia Partnership, The NYC Partnership, Ridgewood Savings
Bank, the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center Board (AERTC),
and the Business Council of New York State Board, as well as the New
York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Board;
and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of President, Kenneth D.
Daley, National Grid is an international energy delivery company which
delivers electricity to approximately 3.3 million customers in New York,
Massachusetts, and Rhode Island; it is the largest distributor of
natural gas in the northeastern United States, serving approximately 3.4
million customers; and

WHEREAS, National Grid, New York has 1.6 million electricity
customers in upstate New York and 2.3 million natural gas customers
across large portions of the state; the company also owns over 3,800
megawatts of contracted electricity generation which provides power to
over one million Long Island customers; its service area spans from
Niagara Falls to the forks of Long Island; and

WHEREAS, National Grid strives to connect people to the energy they
use; from the warmth and light customers rely on at home, and the power
which keeps factories and offices going, to the infrastructure and
technologies which are essential parts of today's modern lifestyle; and

WHEREAS, This vital company is always looking for new ways to create
sustainable energy solutions for the future, and the development of an
energy system which will maintain our economic prosperity in the 21st
Century; and

WHEREAS, Recently, National Grid and Kingsborough Community College
embarked on an exciting initiative; through Kenneth D. Daly's
leadership, National Grid will serve as the anchor partner in
establishing a Customer Experience Management (CXM) Academy at the
College; and

WHEREAS, This innovative model draws upon the best resources of the
College to prepare eligible students for entry into customer relations
positions in New York City with the opportunity for growth and
professional advancement as their education and experiences progress;
and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Laurie, and their
four children, all of whom have shown him love and support and rejoice
in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kenneth D. Daly, President of National Grid upon his designation
for special recognition by Kingsborough Community College on June 22,
2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kenneth D. Daly, President, National Grid.
