MOURNING the tragic and untimely death of New York
State Trooper Timothy P. Pratt on October 26, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous police officer who dedicated his purposeful life and career
in faithful service to his family and to the residents of South Glens
Falls; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this Legislative Body
records the passing of New York State Trooper Timothy P. Pratt, who made
the ultimate sacrifice on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, while faithfully
executing his responsibilities, serving with dedication, loyalty and
compassion, and who devoted his purposeful life and career to serve and
protect; and

WHEREAS, New York State Trooper Timothy P. Pratt exemplified what it
truly means to give of himself in providing vital police services in
keeping with the noble mission of the New York State Police; and

WHEREAS, Trooper Timothy P. Pratt, a 55-year-old resident of South
Glens Falls, New York, died in the line of duty following a tragic
automobile incident; and

WHEREAS, Born January 9, 1961, in Glens Falls, New York, Trooper
Timothy P. Pratt was the son of the late Ruth M. (Wilsie) and Edward F.
Pratt; he was a 1979 graduate of South Glens Falls High School; and

WHEREAS, Following graduation, 18-year-old Timothy P. Pratt joined
the United States Air Force; he faithfully served his country for seven
years before being honorably discharged in 1986; and

WHEREAS, Timothy P. Pratt began his life long career as a trooper
with the New York State Police on March 30, 1987; the duration of his
well-regarded career was spent patrolling in Troop G, based out of the
Wilton Barracks; and

WHEREAS, He was assigned to the Traffic Incident Management (T.I.M.)
detail; in addition, he was a proud member of the elite State Police
Motorcycle Unit where he recently led the 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride
from Albany to New York City; and

WHEREAS, Trooper Timothy P. Pratt performed his duties with great
honor, integrity and just pride; he was truly an exceptional role model
and inspiration to his fellow officers; and

WHEREAS, Giving back to the South Glens Falls community where he
both worked and resided, Trooper Timothy P. Pratt was a member of the
American Legion Post 574 and participated in numerous volunteer events
and charities; and

WHEREAS, Trooper Timothy P. Pratt's most cherished volunteer work
was participating with the students during the annual South Glens Falls
Marathon Dance as an alumni and member of the very first dance; and

WHEREAS, To countless people, Timothy P. Pratt was known as "the go
to guy"; he was the one to call first when in a pinch or in need of a
helping hand; simply because everyone knew, no matter what, he would be
there; and

WHEREAS, When he was off duty, Timothy P. Pratt spent as much time
as possible riding his Harley Davidson or driving his Shelby Mustangs;
and

WHEREAS, He was the proud father of three loving children, Shane,
James, and Sarah, and his love and affection for them as well as his
grandchildren, baby girls Taegan Eichhorn and Charlee Pratt, his beloved
fiancee, Sue Clarke, and her two children, Taylor and Hannah, have
absolutely no measure; and

WHEREAS, Timothy P. Pratt was predeceased by his parents Edward and
Ruth Pratt, one sister Patricia Hall, and his brother-in-law David
LaFountain; in addition to his children, his grandchildren, fiancee and
her children, he is survived by his siblings, Michael Pratt, Kathleen
(Joseph) Bourdeau, Maureen (Michael) Leggett, Laurie LaFountain, Mary
(Joe) Belair; brother-in-law, Paul (Linda) Flood; the Godon family; and
many nieces and nephews; as well as the entire New York State Trooper
family; and

WHEREAS, The South Glens Falls community and the entire State of New
York has truly lost a prominent officer, father, grandfather, fiancee,
brother, uncle and friend; he was recognized as a pillar within his
community, always seeking to build the firmest foundations upon which
South Glens Falls, New York State, and our Nation will continue to grow
and prosper; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the tragic and untimely death of New York State Trooper Timothy P.
Pratt, noting the significance of his contributions on behalf of the
citizens of this noble Empire State, and expressing its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of New York State Trooper Timothy P. Pratt.
