HONORING Sister Benedicta Dega upon the occasion
of her designation as recipient of the Volunteer of
the Year Award by the McGuire Group's Autumn View
Health Care Facility

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sister
Benedicta Dega upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Volunteer of the Year Award by the McGuire Group's Autumn View Health
Care Facility, celebrated at its 24th Annual Volunteer Recognition and
Award Luncheon; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Hamburg, New York, Sister Benedicta Dega is
being recognized with this auspicious award for her steadfast and
unwavering dedication to the betterment of her community, serving as an
outstanding example to its residents; and

WHEREAS, Called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors, Sister Benedicta Dega has always given
of herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, For the last two years, Sister Benedicta Dega has
graciously served as a volunteer at the McGuire Group Autumn View Health
Care Facility, providing room-to-room spiritual visits and communion
through the facility's Journeys palliative care program; and

WHEREAS, Sister Benedicta Dega has made more than 14,000 visits,
providing weekly communion services, Stations of the Cross, bed side
visits, bible studies, and spiritual counseling for the residents, their
family members and staff; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sister Benedicta Dega has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Sister Benedicta Dega has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sister Benedicta Dega upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award by the McGuire Group's
Autumn View Health Care Facility; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sister Benedicta Dega.
