HONORING Frank Lazarski upon the occasion of his
retirement after 13 years of distinguished service
as President of the United Way of Central New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who demonstrate great courage and
diligence in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Frank Lazarski upon the occasion of his retirement after 13 years of
distinguished service as President of the United Way of Central New
York; he will officially retire from this esteemed position in August of
2017; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lazarski joined the United Way of Central New York
(UWCNY) as President in 2003, continuing a distinguished career
dedicated to public service; and

WHEREAS, Frank Lazarski's dedication to the United Way and the
entire region over his illustrious career has been exemplary; he has
been a true leader within the not-for-profit community for many years
and he will be greatly missed by the Board, staff and the many people of
Central New York who have benefitted from his tireless efforts; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure, the UWCNY raised significant funds for
area not-for-profits, helping to advance the United Way's mission of
improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the
world to advance the common good; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Frank Lazarski lead UWCNY's collaboration with
numerous partners on community-wide initiatives such as Success by 6 and
Early Childhood Alliance, Work Train, 211 CNY, Gifts in Kind,
VolunteerCNY.org and the Onondaga County CA$H Coalition, Literacy
Coalition of Onondaga County, ALICE and Greater Syracuse HOPE; and

WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Frank Lazarski has also served
as a part-time instructor at Syracuse University, teaching in the
Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs; and

WHEREAS, Prior to joining the United Way, Frank Lazarski held
executive positions with Syracuse 20/20 and CNY Works, Inc., and served
the City of Syracuse as Parks Commissioner and Director of
Administration; he also worked for many years for the Syracuse Catholic
Diocese and Catholic Charities; and

WHEREAS, In his capacity as President, Frank Lazarski served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, earning him the admiration, esteem and
affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and in
the great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and

good works of those civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Frank Lazarski over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Frank Lazarski upon the occasion of his retirement after 13
years of distinguished service as President of the United Way of Central
New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Frank Lazarski.
