COMMEMORATING the unveiling of a plaque honoring
the late Firefighter Kenneth Joseph Marino who lost
his life on September 11, 2001
WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our valiant firefighters who exhibit courage and bravery
every day in the course of their duties; and
WHEREAS, Firefighters exemplify the power of human compassion and
the strength of the American spirit through actions of the most heroic
magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless dedication merit tribute
and recognition by all citizens of this great country; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
unveiling of a plaque honoring the late Firefighter Kenneth Joseph
Marino who lost his life on September 11, 2001; the dedication will take
place at the Mombasha Fire Company Station 1 in Monroe, New York, on
Saturday, June 10, 2017, and will be followed with a luncheon in the
Fireman's Hall; and
WHEREAS, A 6 year veteran of the New York City Fire Department's
elite rescue squad, Kenneth Joseph Marino was among the first to enter
the stricken World Trade Center's north tower just minutes after a
hijacked airliner smashed into its upper floors; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his illustrious career with FDNY, Kenneth
Joseph Marino served for 20 years as a member of several volunteer fire
departments, most recently with the Mombasha Fire Company/Monroe Fire
Department, when he made the ultimate sacrifice helping others; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Joseph Marino is survived by his wife, Katrina, and
their two children, Kristin and Tyler, as well as a legion of fellow
firefighters and friends who will long cherish his memory; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his meritorious life, Kenneth Joseph Marino
touched many through his kindness and commitment to service, and, as we
recall the loss of this great man, we memorialize his remarkable life
and the enormous impact he had on everyone with whom he came in contact;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of a
courageous firefighter who dedicated his purposeful life and career in
faithful service to his family and community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the unveiling of a plaque honoring the late Firefighter
Kenneth Joseph Marino who lost his life on September 11, 2001; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Firefighter Kenneth Joseph Marino.
