HONORING Mike Carter upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the New York State
Lifetime Service Award by the Grand Island Parent
Teacher Association

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the
great State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mike Carter upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the New
York State Lifetime Service Award by the Grand Island Parent Teacher
Association, celebrated at the Grand Island Class Day Festivities on
Friday, May 26, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the Grand Island Parent Teacher Association
(PTA) nominates one or two people not only from the school, but the
community; a unit, council or region may award an honorary life
membership to an individual as recognition of distinguished service to
its children and youth; and

WHEREAS, Mike Carter, the Grand Island High School Assistant
Principal, has continuously demonstrated an impressive dedication, an
unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of
the education programs and opportunities offered at his school; and

WHEREAS, Mike Carter has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth
of Grand Island High School, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive
dedication to others; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to now record its
recognition and appreciation in honoring an outstanding educational
leader, whose dedication and achievements have been instrumental in
developing character and academic excellence in his students; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mike Carter upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the New York State Lifetime Service Award by the Grand Island Parent
Teacher Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mike Carter.
