COMMEMORATING the 45th Anniversary of the
Immigrant Social Services, Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those organizations that substantially contribute to the
vitality and well-being of their communities and this great Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
45th Anniversary of Immigrant Social Services, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Immigrant Social Services (ISS) is a non-profit
organization founded in 1972 with a mission to improve and promote the
welfare of immigrant families in the Chinatown community of the City of
New York and to work to ensure children have a safe and stable space to
learn and mature; and
WHEREAS, For over four decades, ISS has assisted immigrants with
transitioning into American society; and
WHEREAS, ISS provides a variety of programs, including after-school
programs and summer camp to children and families with low income,
summer youth employment programs, youth drug prevention programs, sports
and fitness programs, and cultural activities; and
WHEREAS, ISS partners with local public schools to provide children
with opportunities to learn new skills in art and culture, and Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM); and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this organization and its contributions to the communities
it serves; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 45th Anniversary of Immigrant Social Services, Inc.; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Immigrant Social Services, Inc.
