HONORING Chiara Spagnolo upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the
Associazione Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria SS.
Addolorata on June 25, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community and
its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Chiara Spagnolo upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Associazione Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria SS.
Addolorata, to be celebrated on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at El Caribe,
Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Chiara Spagnolo has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence,
and diligent leadership in her unwavering service to her community and
profession and consequently has been selected for this most prestigious
honor; and
WHEREAS, Born on May 21, 1978, in Brooklyn, New York, Chiara
Spagnolo is the oldest and only girl of three children born to John and
Vittoria Spagnolo, both of whom immigrated to America from Italy; and
WHEREAS, Chiara Spagnolo grew up in a very close Italian family;
being the first child and sister to her brothers, Nick and Bruno, she
was like a second parent; she gained a sister when Nick married his wife
Anne and her heart was overjoyed with love with the birth of her
precious twin nephews Giovanni and Leandro; and
WHEREAS, Inspired by her third grade teacher, Chiara Spagnolo began
her illustrious career in education as a fifth grade teacher at St.
Thomas Aquinas; and
WHEREAS, Chiara Spagnolo went on to teach eighth grade English at
Seth Low Middle School, where she also served as Council for Unity
Facilitator; in addition, she led after-school leadership clubs and was
in charge of graduation; and
WHEREAS, Despite her busy professional life, Chiara Spagnolo
continued her education and obtained two masters degrees, one being in
Administration; subsequently, she was offered an Assistant Principal
position at P.S. 179, where she worked for five years; and
WHEREAS, A strong and competent leader, Chiara Spagnolo currently
serves in the esteemed position of Principal at P.S. 100 Magnet School
of Media and Arts in Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Chiara
Spagnolo was nominated as Teacher of the Year in 2007; and
WHEREAS, Chiara Spagnolo is active in the Association of Figli di
Madonna SS. Addolorata, where both her parents and grandparents are also
members; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Chiara Spagnolo has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Chiara Spagnolo, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chiara Spagnolo upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Associazione Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria SS.
Addolorata on June 25, 2017; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chiara Spagnolo.
