COMMEMORATING the Brooklyn Sigmas upon the
occasion of celebrating its Annual Scholarship Gala

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those fraternal organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the Brooklyn Sigmas upon the occasion of celebrating its
Annual Scholarship Gala on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Russo's On the Bay
in Howard Beach, New York; and

WHEREAS, During its Annual Scholarship Gala, the Brooklyn Sigmas
honor the contributions of individuals who work within their community
and make a positive difference in the area of Brotherhood, Scholarship
or Service; and

WHEREAS, For over 88 years, the Brooklyn Sigmas have been committed
to their mantra of Culture for Service, Service for Humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proudly moved to honor and commend
the members of the Brooklyn Sigmas, past and present, who have labored
so conscientiously to secure and improve the quality of life for the
community it serves; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Brooklyn Sigmas upon the occasion of celebrating its
Annual Scholarship Gala; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Brooklyn Sigmas.
