COMMENDING the New York State Nurses Association
upon the occasion of hosting its 4th Annual
Caribbean American Healthcare Awards Gala on June
22, 2017, and paying tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
organizations and individuals whose singular purpose is the care and
welfare of others; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the New York State Nurses Association upon the occasion of
hosting its 4th Annual Caribbean American Healthcare Awards Gala on
Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Paradise Caterers, Brooklyn, New York, and
paying tribute to this year's honorees; and

WHEREAS, The 2017 Caribbean American Healthcare Award recipients
include: Dr. Carlton Barnswell, MPH; Dr. Daniel L. Beckles, MD, Ph.D.;
Patricia Britton, HHA; Margaret Burke, MSN, RN; Dr. Rhonda
Cambridge-Phillip, MD, MPH, CHC; Annemarie Campbell, MSN, RN; Kenrick D.
Cato, Ph.D., RN, CPHIMS; Hyacinth Charles, RN, BSN, MSA; Samuel G.
Clarke, M.A.; Marcia Cole-Saunders, MPA; Beverly Gardner-Samuels;
Madonna Holder, RN, CNM, MS; Marie E. Hyppolite, MS, RN; Anne Marie
Berthe Leveille-Tulce, Ph.D., RN, MPH; Liza L. Long, BS, RN-C, CDP,
CDCM; Bernice McIntosh, RN; Dr. Harrison Mitchell; Dr. John Mitchell;
Illouise Murillo-Tucker, DNP, RN, NP; Marcia Nelson; Kafi Yolanda
Quaynor, RN; Dr. Audrey Sealey; Fiona Smith-Cambry, DND, FNP-BC; Odette

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, the New York State Nurses
Association has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of the New York State Nurses Association is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its healthcare professionals, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the New York State
Nurses Association; and

WHEREAS, In light of its commitment, dedication and successful
efforts, it is the custom of this Legislative Body to extend its highest
commendation to the New York State Nurses Association; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to the New York State Nurses Association and its
distinguished honorees for their many contributions to the health and

welfare of the citizens of New York, fully confident that they will
continue their leadership role in healthcare for many years to come;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the New York State Nurses Association upon the occasion of
hosting its 4th Annual Caribbean American Healthcare Awards Gala on June
22, 2017, and paying tribute to this year's honorees; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the New York State Nurses Association and the
aforementioned honorees.
