HONORING Amy Klein upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Anschel Weiss
Community Builders Award by Jewish Family Services
on October 19, 2017

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Amy Klein
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Anschel Weiss
Community Builders Award by Jewish Family Services, to be celebrated on
Thursday, October 19, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Amy Klein is being recognized with this auspicious award in
recognition of her commitment to serve humanity with humility and for
her outstanding contributions to making our world a better place; and

WHEREAS, A passionate advocate for individuals and families, Amy
Klein is CEO of Capital Roots, an organization which works to reduce the
impact of poor nutrition on public health in the Capital Region through
community gardens, access to healthy foods, nutritional and
horticultural education, and urban greening programs; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Amy Klein, Capital Roots
has launched 10 new programs including the nationally recognized Veggie
Mobile, which increases access to fresh, affordable food in our region's
underserved neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Amy Klein has been instrumental in the
geographical expansion of this vital organization to include four
counties; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Amy Klein has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Amy Klein, that future generations may know and appreciate her admirable
character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in
which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Amy Klein upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the

Anschel Weiss Community Builders Award by Jewish Family Services on
October 19, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Amy Klein.
