COMMEMORATING the 60th Anniversary of the Kiwanis
Club of Minisink Valley, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those fraternal organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to
changing the world, one child and one community at a time; and

WHEREAS, The six permanent objects of Kiwanis International are to:
give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material
values of life; encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all
human relationships; promote the adoption and the application of higher
social, business, and professional standards; develop, by precept and
example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship;
provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring
friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better
communities; and cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public
opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of
righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill; and

WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley was established on
October 15, 1957, with 25 charter members; and

WHEREAS, This vital organization is dedicated to serving the local
community through various service and fundraising projects such as its
chicken barbecues, Pancake Day and Sweet Corn Festival; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 60 year history, the Kiwanis Club of
Minisink Valley has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Kiwanis Club of
Minisink Valley; and

WHEREAS, Organizations of singular distinction such as the Kiwanis
Club of Minisink Valley, New York, provide a model for enhancing the

quality of life in the community and, as such, merit the grateful praise
of the community of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley,
New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley, New York.
