COMMENDING Lydia Reidy upon the occasion of her
retirement after 43 years of distinguished service
to the Cornell Cooperative Extension system

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Lydia Reidy upon the occasion of her retirement after 43 years
of distinguished service to the Cornell Cooperative Extension system; at
the end of December of 2017, she will officially retire from her title
of Executive Director; and

WHEREAS, For more than four decades, Lydia Reidy rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Cornell Cooperative Extension
system; and

WHEREAS, In her capacity as Executive Director, Lydia Reidy served
with loyalty, honor and distinction; in this esteemed role, she
accomplished numerous goals including building the Ulster County Cornell
Cooperative Extension from a staff of 20 individuals and an annual
budget of $575,000 in 1989, to an association with 35 staff members and
an operating budget of more than $4 million today; and

WHEREAS, In her official acts, Lydia Reidy was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Cornell Cooperative Extension
system, Lydia Reidy earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Lydia Reidy upon the occasion of her retirement after 43 years
of distinguished service to the Cornell Cooperative Extension system;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lydia Reidy.
