HONORING Frantzi Honore and Zache Cox upon the
occasion of their designation as recipients of a
Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations, remaining calm
under pressure, in an effort to preserve the life of another; and
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of human life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is proud to honor
those individuals who would serve to protect it; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Frantzi
Honore and Zache Cox upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
Resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and
WHEREAS, On Friday, November 24, 2017, Frantzi Honore and Zache Cox,
EMTs at FDNY Station 54, responded to a sick call at a residence
occupied by four individuals; upon arriving at the scene, their safety
equipment alerted them to the presence of high concentrations of carbon
monoxide, a colorless, odorless, tasteless and toxic gas; and
WHEREAS, With the revelation of the extremely high level of this
deadly poison, Frantzi Honore and Zache Cox immediately took action and
brought the residents outside where they began to administer medical
care, ultimately saving their lives; and
WHEREAS, Frantzi Honore and Zache Cox should be meritoriously
commended for showing valor and true courage while performing a
lifesaving deed; and
WHEREAS, In the performance of their duties, FDNY EMTs Frantzi
Honore and Zache Cox have demonstrated their character and compassion
for the welfare of others; they are each tremendous assets to FDNY
Station 54 and should be commended by all citizens of the State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an
occasion of such consummate heroism is brought to our attention, the
same should be memorialized for the edification and emulation of others;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Frantzi Honore and Zache Cox upon the occasion of their
designation as recipients of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed
upon an individual by the New York State Senate; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Frantzi Honore and Zache Cox.
