COMMENDING Lorraine Lopez-Janove upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition by the
2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional
Women and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Lopez-Janove has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Lorraine
Lopez-Janove upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional
Women and Women in Business; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Lopez-Janove earned both her bachelor's degree and
Master in Public Administration from Marist College; in addition, she
holds a Business and Marketing Teaching Certificate; and

WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Lorraine Lopez-Janove has been an
educator; recently, she began working as the Chief Diversity Officer
(CDO), a shared leadership position between SUNY Orange, SUNY Sullivan,
and SUNY Ulster; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Lorraine Lopez-Janove serves as an
institutional change agent providing both leadership and vision to the
college presidents in the delivery of a comprehensive range of services,
policies and procedures related to equity in diversity and inclusive
excellence; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Lopez-Janove truly loves her job; she enjoys
meeting with dedicated educators who work hard to meet the educational
needs of all of their students; and

WHEREAS, When she is not working, Lorraine Lopez-Janove loves to
spend time with her family on vacation, and likes to read; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Stephen Janove,
and their five children, Jocelyn, Christine, Daniel, Marisa, and Adam
Justiniano, all of whom have shown her love and support and rejoice in
her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Lorraine Lopez-Janove has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their

profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Lorraine Lopez-Janove upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lorraine Lopez-Janove.
