HONORING Imani Telesford upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2018 Scholarship
Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Imani Telesford upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 20th
Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala, "Celebrating A Twenty Year Legacy
of Mentoring Excellence" on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Anthony's
Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and

WHEREAS, An exceptional student-athlete at Newburgh Free Academy,
Imani Telesford is ranked 21st out of 723 students with a 97.782 GPA,
and is a performer with the school's Advance Dance team; she is also a
member of the Newburgh Performing Arts Academy where she has danced
during previous Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee
Airmen, Inc. Award Dinners; and

WHEREAS, Imani Telesford is also a Level 10 competitive gymnast, and
serves as both Coach and Captain of her Kennett School of Gymnastics
Team, which has competed in numerous states; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, Imani Telesford plans to continue her
education studying biomedical science and child development at the
University of Maryland; she hopes to have a career as a pediatric
physician's assistant; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Imani Telesford has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and

WHEREAS, Imani Telesford, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of
excellence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Imani Telesford upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future
of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Imani Telesford.
