HONORING Joseph E. Mottola upon the occasion of
his retirement after 42 years of dedicated service
to the Long Island Board of REALTORS, Inc.

LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Joseph E. Mottola upon the occasion of
his retirement after 42 years of dedicated service to the Long Island
Board of REALTORS, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joseph E. Mottola upon the occasion of his retirement after 42 years of
dedicated service to the Long Island Board of REALTORS, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Joseph E. Mottola, Chief Executive Officer of the Long
Island Board of REALTORS, Inc. (LIBOR), and its subsidiary the Multiple
Listing Service of Long Island (MLSLI), will officially retire in June
of 2018, after four decades of strong, unwavering and visionary
leadership; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Fordham University, Joseph E. Mottola
honorably served his country as an officer in the United States Army and
Army Reserves; and

WHEREAS, Joseph E. Mottola began his illustrious career in real
estate with Levitt & Sons, where he worked on a variety of assignments
but was most heavily involved in new developments on Long Island; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as CEO of the Long Island Board of
REALTORS, Joseph E. Mottola has led the development and implementation
of real estate computer systems, training and education facilities, and
instituted a formal outreach service program; and

WHEREAS, In addition, he established a formal professional
development department which is now running more than 600 education
courses per year, as well as a government affairs department that
maintains relationships with local, state and federal elected officials;
and

WHEREAS, Joseph E. Mottola was instrumental in the 1996 launch of
MLSLI.com, one of the nation's first regional housing websites; today it
is the area's largest and most comprehensive source for housing
information; and

WHEREAS, Due to the tremendous growth of LIBOR, Joseph E. Mottola
opened three Regional Service Centers to better serve REALTORS and their
clients with education classrooms and computer training facilities; and

WHEREAS, In December of 2008, Joseph E. Mottola was appointed by
then Governor David Paterson to serve as a member of the New York State

Real Estate Board, which provides the Department of State with consumer
and industry input; and

WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Joseph E.
Mottola was honored with Long Island Business News' 2014 Outstanding CEO
Award; and

WHEREAS, Joseph E. Mottola serves on the Community Development
Corporation Advisory Council and as a Director for the Long Island
Housing Partnership; he has also served on several state and national
industry committees, and is a frequent speaker on industry trends and
the housing market; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Gabriele, and their
nine children, as well as 26 grandchildren, who have all shown him love
and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Joseph E. Mottola over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joseph E. Mottola upon the occasion of his retirement after 42
years of dedicated service to the Long Island Board of REALTORS, Inc.;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joseph E. Mottola.
