HONORING outgoing Chief Ann Mullooly upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition
after 30 years of dedicated service to the New Hyde
Park Fire Department

WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our noble volunteer firefighters who exhibit courage and
bravery every day in the course of their duties; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer Firefighters exemplify the power of human
compassion and the strength of the American spirit through actions of
the most heroic magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless
dedication merit tribute and recognition by all citizens of this great
country; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor outgoing
Chief Ann Mullooly upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition after 30 years of dedicated service to the New Hyde Park
Fire Department, to be celebrated at its 108th Annual Inspection Dinner
on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at The Inn at New Hyde Park; and

WHEREAS, Ann Mullooly joined the New Hyde Park Fire Department in
1988, during which time she became a member of Rescue Company 174; and

WHEREAS, Five years later, Ann Mullooly transferred to the Estates
Engine Company 173, where she rose through the officers ranks to
Captain; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering dedication to firefighting,
Ann Mullooly began her rise through the Chief's hierarchy in 2013,
before her election as Chief of Department, the esteemed position she
held until 2017; and

WHEREAS, As a member of the New Hyde Park Fire Department, Ann
Mullooly has been the proud recipient of such awards and accolades as
Firefighter of the Year and multiple EMS lifesaving awards; and

WHEREAS, Ann Mullooly has further served the people of the State of
New York through her 30-year professional career with FDNY/EMS as an
officer in the Special Operations Command; and

WHEREAS, Firefighters unwaveringly serve our great State with pride,
valor, and integrity; these respected volunteers are often the first to
respond to an emergency, whether the emergency is a fire, transportation
accident, natural disaster, act of terrorism, medical crisis, or spill
of hazardous materials; and

WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help
others and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need;
Ann Mullooly is such a firefighter; throughout three decades of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call

of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor outgoing Chief Ann Mullooly upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition after 30 years of dedicated service to the New
Hyde Park Fire Department; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to outgoing Chief Ann Mullooly.
