COMMENDING Marvin Rappaport upon the occasion of
his induction into the Monticello High School Hall
of Distinction Class of 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Marvin Rappaport upon the occasion of his induction into the
Monticello High School Hall of Distinction Class of 2017; this momentous
occasion was celebrated on Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Arnold
Packer Hughs Auditorium in Monticello High School; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Monticello High School Class of 1965,
Marvin Rappaport has spent his life committed to our nation's autonomous
values by bringing justice and fair treatment to all citizens; and
WHEREAS, A Sullivan County native, Marvin Rappaport and many of his
family members worked at the Delano Hotel in the Catskills; after
graduating from college, he served as a lawyer before holding the title
of Chief of Staff for Congressman Matthew McHugh; and
WHEREAS, Marvin Rappaport then worked for the Anti-Defamation
League, a position he has held for over three decades; in this capacity,
he diligently works to make our country a place where all people can
live as equals who are worthy of shared opportunity and a place in the
American dream; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Marvin Rappaport has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Marvin Rappaport has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Marvin Rappaport upon the occasion of his induction into the
Monticello High School Hall of Distinction Class of 2017; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Marvin Rappaport.
