HONORING Yamilet Gonzalez upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2017 Scholarship
Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Yamilet Gonzalez upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 19th
Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at
Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Newburgh Free Academy (NFA), Yamilet Gonzalez
is a high honor roll student, a member of the drill team, and a leader
in her Air Force Junior ROTC program; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed young woman gives tirelessly of her time and
energies to several local organizations including Habitat for Humanity,
the Salvation Army, Ebenezer Baptist Church, and the Church of St.
Patrick's; she is also a member of the Red Tail Youth Flying Program;
and

WHEREAS, Yamilet Gonzalez hopes to attend SUNY Oneonta to major in
nursing and minor in psychology with the dream of becoming a registered
nurse; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Yamilet Gonzalez has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and

WHEREAS, Yamilet Gonzalez, in achieving this academic honor, may
take just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of
excellence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Yamilet Gonzalez upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future
of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Yamilet Gonzalez.
