HONORING Neil Bartle upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2018 Citizen of the
Year Award for Chenango County by the Baden-Powell
Council, Boy Scouts of America

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Neil Bartle has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special recognition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Neil Bartle
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2018 Citizen of
the Year Award for Chenango County by the Baden-Powell Council, Boy
Scouts of America, to be celebrated with a dinner on Thursday, May 10,
2018, at the Canasawacta Country Club, Norwich, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award is given to a
local community leader for their outstanding contribution to the
betterment of the community and service to their fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, Blueox Corporation President Neil Bartle has been called
upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Neil Bartle valiantly served his country as a member of the
United States Army from 1966 to 1968; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service, Neil Bartle
joined D.W. Bartle Coal and Oil in Oxford, New York, where he has been
instrumental in the tremendous growth of the company from five to 200
employees; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
community, Neil Bartle serves on several boards and volunteers with
various organizations including: Blueox Corporation, Chenango Mutual
Insurance Company, North Country Insurance Company, Chenango County Fuel
Oil Dealers, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, Oxford Lions Club, Chenango
County ARC, and UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Neil Bartle has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Neil Bartle has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent

of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Neil Bartle, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Neil Bartle upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2018 Citizen of the Year Award for Chenango County by the
Baden-Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Neil Bartle.
