HONORING Philip Eggleton upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Township Award
by the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the leaders of commerce and industry whose accomplishments
contribute to the economic health and prosperity of the communities of
the State of New York, and whose purposeful endeavors as involved
members of the community serve to enhance the quality of life therein;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Philip Eggleton upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2017 Township Award by the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce; this
auspicious occasion was celebrated at the its 26th Annual Pride Awards
Gala on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at The Eagle's Nest, Bloomingburg,
New York; and

WHEREAS, The Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to
bringing together the business and professional interests of Sullivan
County, helping them to accomplish collectively what none could do
individually; the organization is focused on the growth and retention of
its member businesses, serving as a point of contact and center of
information, facilitation and exchange; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce
recognizes certain individuals who have made outstanding contributions
to the local economy, to the goals of the Chamber, and to the quality of
life in Sullivan County; and

WHEREAS, The Township Award, which in the past was given to someone
from each Sullivan County town, is now only given to one individual per
year; this auspicious honor is bestowed upon someone who goes above and
beyond for their community; Philip Eggleton is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, He is a member of Roscoe Kiwanis and the Roscoe Chamber of
Commerce, where he sits on the board; he also served on the Roscoe
School Board for 12 years, spending some of those years as President,
and has been a member of the United Church of Roscoe since he was young;
and

WHEREAS, In 1977, Philip Eggleton graduated from Roscoe High School;
he was employed for 27 years with for the Department of Corrections, 22
of which were in Woodbourne; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Philip Eggleton coached Little
League Baseball for many years, and is a former JV Girls Basketball and
JV and modified football coach at Roscoe; he also spent a couple of
years volunteering at Livingston Manor where his son was a coach; and

WHEREAS, Philip Eggleton and his wife, Shelley, maintain a few
flower beds on Highland Avenue in Roscoe; Philip also serves as an
unofficial liaison to visitors who ask for directions; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his work as a salesperson at the Eagle River
Team of Keller Williams, Philip Eggleton and his son started Trout Town
Adventures and Guide Services, a seasonal business; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Philip Eggleton has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Philip and Shelley Eggleton are the proud parents of two
wonderful children, David and Alexis, and the loving grandparents of two
granddaughters, who have all shown him love and support and rejoice in
his achievements; and

WHEREAS, Philip Eggleton enjoys gardening, traveling, hunting,
fishing, paddling and biking; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which this remarkable man has
displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Philip Eggleton upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2017 Township Award by the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Philip Eggleton.
