HONORING Riley Damiano upon the occasion of being
named a Distinguished Finalist in the Prudential
Spirit of Community Awards

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
its distinguished youth who have distinguished themselves in their
community; and

WHEREAS, Riley Damiano has been selected as a Distinguished Finalist
in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and

WHEREAS, Riley Damiano was selected for her Blue Lollipop Project;
and

WHEREAS, This project involved Riley Damiano collecting monetary
donations for pediatric cancer research; for every $1 donated, Riley
provided a blue lollipop for a hospitalized child; and

WHEREAS, Riley Damiano was inspired by a child who loved blue
lollipops and lost his battle against cancer; and

WHEREAS, Riley Damiano raised $6,000 which was donated to the
foundation started by the boy's parents; and

WHEREAS, Riley Damiano also worked with nine hospitals to distribute
the lollipops; and

WHEREAS, Riley Damiano demonstrated the true spirit of this award
through her valuable contributions to the community; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Riley Damiano upon the occasion of being named a Distinguished
Finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Riley Damiano.
