HONORING Robyn and Edward Marinstein upon the
occasion of their designation as recipients of the
Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert
Albany Jewish Community Center
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors,
and community service are an example and inspiration to their
colleagues, friends, family, and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robyn and Edward Marinstein upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert
Albany Jewish Community Center, to be celebrated on Sunday, April 22,
2018, at Temple Israel, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious awards ceremony recognizes
individuals for their contributions to the Center and the Jewish
community-at-large by acting as moral pillars and dispensers of wisdom
and advice, providing continued service and leadership, and acting
generously in the spirit of Tzedakah; and
WHEREAS, Widely known for their extraordinary dedication to Israel
and the local community, Robyn and Edward Marinstein's philanthropic and
leadership endeavors continue to inspire all of those who are lucky
enough to know them; and
WHEREAS, Robyn and Edward Marinstein's journey and commitment to
become involved members of the community began when they were children
in Albany and Troy, New York; the couple's parents and grandparents
provided them with a solid family foundation and instilled in them the
importance of being kind; and
WHEREAS, In the late 1980s, Robyn and Edward Marinstein were invited
to participate in the Jewish Federation's Young Professional Leadership
Program, co-chairing fundraising and social events; it was through this
program the couple met, confirming their commitment to each other and
the community; and
WHEREAS, Active members of Congregation Beth Emeth (CBE), Robyn and
Edward Marinstein serve as co-chairs for Mitzvah Day and volunteer at
the Soup Kitchen and the annual Garage Sale; in addition, they
co-sponsor dinner for the Moveable Feast, CBE's fundraiser for its
religious school; and
WHEREAS, Robyn and Edward Marinstein also led the 2017 Capital
Region JCC Maccabi Games as members of its steering committee; and
WHEREAS, Robyn Marinstein holds a bachelor's degree in Public
Administration from SUNY Albany and a Master of Science degree in
Elementary Education from Russell Sage College; she is currently a first
grade teacher at the Menands Union Free School District where she is
treasurer of the PTA and secretary of its Association of Teachers; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this esteemed woman chaired the Girls Tennis
Booster Club at Guilderland High School and was a parent volunteer for
the Albany Figure Skating Club; and
WHEREAS, Edward Marinstein, affectionately known as Ed, earned a
bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Rochester
before earning his law degree from Case Western University; he is
currently Managing Member of Marinstein & Marinstein Esqs., PLLC,
specializing in the area of creditors' rights; and
WHEREAS, With them throughout have been their two wonderful
children, David and Jessica, who have shown them love and support and
rejoice in their many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Robyn and Edward Marinstein
have displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Robyn and Edward Marinstein, that future generations may know and
appreciate their admirable character, their many benevolent deeds, and
their respect and esteem in which they are held by their peers; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robyn and Edward Marinstein upon the occasion of their designation
as recipients of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert
Albany Jewish Community Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Robyn and Edward Marinstein.
