HONORING Haley Golderman upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Lenore Bellin
Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Haley Golderman upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Lenore Bellin Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center, to be celebrated on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Temple
Israel, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious awards ceremony recognizes
individuals for their contributions to the Center and the Jewish
community-at-large by acting as moral pillars and dispensers of wisdom
and advice, providing continued service and leadership, and acting
generously in the spirit of Tzedakah; and

WHEREAS, Widely known for her extraordinary dedication to Israel and
the local community, Haley Golderman's leadership endeavors continue to
inspire all of those who are lucky enough to know her; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong member of the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center (JCC), Haley Golderman was just a baby when she was
participating in Mommy and Me classes, as well as JCC Babysitting and
Rompers; and

WHEREAS, Haley Golderman went on to attend Ohav Shalom Nursery and
Hebrew School; her involvement at the JCC continued with swim lessons
and spending eight weeks each summer at Camp Taf, Camp Olam, and
finally, Teen Camp; and

WHEREAS, When she could no longer be a camper, Haley Golderman
became a counselor at Teen Camp; and

WHEREAS, In 3rd grade, Haley Golderman was a member of the inaugural
group who became the JCC's first Girl's CYO Basketball Team; she
continued to play basketball at the JCC through eighth grade, learning
humility, dedication and friendship; and

WHEREAS, With these skills, Haley Golderman became part of the
Albany Schenectady JCC delegation, competing in basketball at the
Maccabi Games in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Dallas, Texas; furthermore,
she won a silver medal in Golf, and a gold medal in mixed play during
the Games in Stamford, Connecticut; and

WHEREAS, A two-time recipient of the Maccabi Midot medal for good
sportsmanship, Haley Golderman helped welcome athletes and families to

the Capital Region when Albany was selected to host the Maccabi Games;
additionally, she worked long hours as a basketball scorekeeper,
assisting with transportation and security; and

WHEREAS, Haley Golderman is a senior at Guilderland High School
where she is a member of the National Honor Society and Best Buddies;
and

WHEREAS, As a Freshman, Haley Golderman was selected to be part of
the Albany County District Attorney Youth Advisory Board, the esteemed
committee she continues to serve today; and

WHEREAS, An active member of Congregation Beth Emeth Youth Group for
four years, Haley Golderman currently serves as the Social Action
President and as a member of the CBE Board of Trustees; and

WHEREAS, Since her Sophomore year, Haley Golderman has rowed year
round for the Albany Rowing Center, with the exception of Wednesdays and
Sundays, when she is a Madrichim for the fourth grade class at the CBE's
Einhorn Center for Jewish Education; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her parents, Kathy and Billy,
and her siblings, Alyssa and Danny, as well as her grandmother, Eunice,
who have all showed her love and support and rejoice in her many
achievements; and

WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Haley Golderman represents the best development of the potential which
is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Haley Golderman upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Lenore Bellin Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Haley Golderman.
