HONORING Meki Womack upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Susan Shpeen
Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors,
and community service are an example and inspiration to their
colleagues, friends, family, and community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Meki Womack upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Susan Shpeen Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community
Center, to be celebrated on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Temple Israel,
Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious awards ceremony recognizes
individuals for their contributions to the Center and the Jewish
community-at-large by acting as moral pillars and dispensers of wisdom
and advice, providing continued service and leadership, and acting
generously in the spirit of Tzedakah; and

WHEREAS, Widely known for her extraordinary dedication to Israel and
the local community, Meki Womack's philanthropic and leadership
endeavors continue to inspire all of those who are lucky enough to know
her; and

WHEREAS, Meki Womack has been a devoted employee of the Sidney
Albert Albany Jewish Community Center (JCC) for more than 22 years; she
began her illustrious career teaching at Camp Gan Israel before
accepting a full time position in the Early Childhood Department; and

WHEREAS, A dedicated Pre-school Teacher for nearly two decades, Meki
Womack was recently promoted to the esteemed position of Administrative
Coordinator for the Early Childhood Center; going above and beyond her
designated role, she has created a multi-cultural training for staff and
others to have a better understanding of cultural diversity in the
community; and

WHEREAS, Meki Womack earned an early childhood degree, with honors,
from Hudson Valley Community College; she has also taken theatre classes
at SUNY Albany; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Meki Womack has raised significant funds for countless
charitable organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House, the Women
and Children's Shelter, and various homeless shelters throughout the
Capital Region; and


WHEREAS, Meki Womack has devoted much of her time to various JCC
causes including Kids Night Out; she has also donated her own hard
earned paid time off to employees in need, as well as a memorial bench
for a beloved friend and teacher; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Meki Womack has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Meki Womack, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Meki Womack upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Susan Shpeen Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Meki Womack.
