COMMENDING Kevin C. Horton upon the occasion of
his designation as the Aide to the Grand Marshal of
the 30th Annual Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade
on March 18, 2018

WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities
and generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage
of the Irish people throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and provides opportunity for
people of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride and pageantry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Kevin C. Horton upon the occasion of his designation as the Aide
to the Grand Marshal of the 30th Annual Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day
Parade on Sunday, March 18, 2018; and

WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Kevin C. Horton has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in his unwavering service to his community and
profession and subsequently has been selected for this most prestigious
accolade; and

WHEREAS, Kevin C. Horton is an accomplished author, journalist,
professor and editor who resides in Sea Cliff, New York; in addition to
his exceptional writing skills, he is well known for his service to his
community; and

WHEREAS, Born to Robert Horton and the late Patricia Campbell
Horton, Kevin C. Horton attended North Shore High School; after
graduating, he successfully completed the NYIT Communication Arts
program with high honors in 1991; and

WHEREAS, In that same year, Kevin C. Horton and his mother founded
the Gold Coast Gazette, a weekly newspaper providing reliable news for
the residents of the five communities on the North Shore of Long Island;
through the years, the publication has been the recipient of numerous
awards for its high quality and fair reporting; after 25 years, Kevin
sold the paper in 2016; and

WHEREAS, A member of the New York Press Association and the Long
Island Press Association, Kevin C. Horton produced and starred in
"Kevin's Corner TV", a Cablevision show featuring local personalities
and stories; today, the show can be viewed on its own YouTube Channel;
and

WHEREAS, Kevin C. Horton also owns an online marketing business
named www.urfamilyfirst.info, and has written numerous books; his latest
children's book, entitled Cee Jay and Bugsy, features some of his prized
automobiles; and

WHEREAS, Kevin C. Horton enjoys sharing his knowledge and skills as
a professor of journalism at New York Institute of Technology, where he
also assists with the television production department, and is the
advisor of the Campus Slate; and

WHEREAS, For centuries, the Horton family has been a fixture on Long
Island; today, Kevin C. Horton takes great pride in continuing his
family's legacy of service and philanthropy as active members of St.
Boniface Martyr Parish, and through his profession; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, intellect and commitment as that demonstrated by
Kevin Horton over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to others; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 26 years,
Milkenia, and their two children, Kacey and Samantha, all of whom have
shown him love and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Aide to the Grand Marshal of the 30th
Annual Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day Parade, Kevin C. Horton embodies the
spirit and the cherished ideals and values of Irish-Americans of this
great State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kevin C. Horton upon the occasion of his designation as the Aide
to the Grand Marshal of the 30th Annual Glen Cove St. Patrick's Day
Parade on March 18, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kevin C. Horton.
