HONORING Surf for All Corp. upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the 2018 Education
Partner Award by Nassau BOCES
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Surf for All Corp. upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the 2018 Education Partner Award by Nassau BOCES, to be celebrated on
Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1967, the Board of Cooperative Educational
Services of Nassau County (Nassau BOCES) is the largest BOCES in New
York State, serving 56 school districts; and
WHEREAS, The Education Partner Award recognizes those who have made
a substantial impact on public education in Nassau County, and who share
in BOCES' commitment to enabling students of all ages and abilities to
achieve their maximum potential; Surf for All Corp. is one such
organization; and
WHEREAS, The Board members and founders of Surf for All Corp.
include: Jim Mulvaney, Cliff Skudin, Will Skudin, Dr. Janine Sorenson
and Harvey Weisenberg; and
WHEREAS, These five extraordinary individuals have been called upon
to contribute their time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jim Mulvaney, Cliff Skudin, Will
Skudin, Dr. Janine Sorenson and Harvey Weisenberg have stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, The success of Surf for All Corp. is in direct correlation
to the efforts of Jim Mulvaney, Cliff Skudin, Will Skudin, Dr. Janine
Sorenson and Harvey Weisenberg; their involvement is, and always has
been, characterized by their impressive commitment, their unbridled
enthusiasm, and their uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Jim Mulvaney, Cliff Skudin,
Will Skudin, Dr. Janine Sorenson and Harvey Weisenberg have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those organizations and individuals who have
displayed their commitment to the betterment of their communities, and
it is the intent of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records,
this tribute to the Board members and founders of Surf for All Corp.,
that future generations may know and appreciate their admirable
character, their many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in
which they are held by their peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Surf for All Corp. upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2018 Education Partner Award by Nassau BOCES; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jim Mulvaney, Cliff Skudin, Will Skudin, Dr. Janine
Sorenson and Harvey Weisenberg.
