COMMENDING Donalette Card Appel upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition by the
2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional
Women and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Donalette Card Appel has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Donalette
Card Appel upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women and
Women in Business; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Saratoga High School, Donalette Card Appel
earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Studies while attending
The University at Albany, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, For over 46 years, Donalette Card Appel has owned her own
business along with her husband, David, which is called the "Tax
Shoppe," located in Rock Hill, New York; she is a self-taught tax
consultant and bookkeeper; and

WHEREAS, Donalette Card Appel is well organized and meticulous, and
up until 20 years ago, reconciled bank accounts by hand; she still
verifies all work by hand, but then enters it into the computer system;
and

WHEREAS, Committed to her community, Donalette Card Appel has served
as Treasurer of the Rock Hill Methodist Church Mission for 20 years; she
has also served as Treasurer of the Rock Hill Ladies Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 46 years,
David, and her two sons, Donald and Douglas, who feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Donalette Card Appel has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Donalette Card Appel upon the occasion of her designation for

special recognition by the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Donalette Card Appel.
