COMMENDING the Garden City Chamber of Commerce
upon the occasion of hosting its 16th Annual
Pineapple Ball, and paying tribute to this year's
honorees
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize
that the quality and character of life in the communities across New
York State are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of
business organizations and individuals that generously contribute to the
welfare of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Garden City Chamber of Commerce upon the occasion of hosting
its 16th Annual Pineapple Ball, and to pay tribute to this year's
honorees, to be celebrated on Friday, April 20, 2018, at the Garden City
Hotel, Garden City, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Annual Pineapple Ball provides important funds for the
Garden City Chamber of Commerce's Foundation, which supports efforts to
increase business growth and prosperity while preserving the quality and
character of its beautiful city; and
WHEREAS, The Garden City Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the
prosperity of its member businesses and to the preservation of the
quality, character and vitality of the greater community; and
WHEREAS, Incorporated in 1926, the Garden City Chamber of Commerce
has nearly 400 members and is the largest Community Chamber of Commerce
on Long Island; in addition, it is one of the most innovative and
successful community chambers throughout the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this esteemed organization is privileged to
recognize outstanding members of society who have made significant
contributions to the Garden City community; this year's distinguished
honorees include: Kevin M. Walsh, Esq. of Walsh Markus McDougal &
DeBellis, LLP, who is being named Citizen of the Year; Dr. Christine M.
Riordan of Adelphi University who is being named Businessperson of the
Year; and The Very Rev'd Michael T. Sniffen of the Cathedral of the
Incarnation who will receive the Community Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
individuals who enhance the quality of life in their community and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high
standards in their profession, certainly have earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Garden City Chamber of Commerce upon the occasion of hosting
its 16th Annual Pineapple Ball, and to pay tribute to this year's
honorees; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, and the
aforementioned honorees.
