CONGRATULATING Michelle Diener upon the occasion
of her induction into the SUNY Orange Colt Athletic
Hall of Fame on November 4, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Michelle Diener upon the occasion of her induction into the
SUNY Orange Colt Athletic Hall of Fame; this momentous occasion was
celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Diener is a 1991 graduate of SUNY Orange, where
she distinguished herself by her many notable achievements as a member
of the basketball and softball teams; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Diener has always been an exceptional athlete; she
was a stand-out member of both the Wallkill High School softball and
basketball teams, and consequently, was named the 1989 Girls High School
Player of the Year by the Kingston Freeman; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Diener continued to play basketball and softball
at SUNY Orange; as a freshman, she led the Colts to a Region XV
Basketball Championship, and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament;
and

WHEREAS, During both seasons at SUNY Orange, Michelle Diener was
named to the Region XV First Team, as well as the All-Tournament Team;
and

WHEREAS, Michelle Diener was also a key offensive player on the SUNY
Orange Softball Team; she was selected as a Mid-Hudson Conference
All-Star following each of her two seasons; and

WHEREAS, After transferring to Wagner College, Michelle Diener
continued to excel on the basketball court, averaging 12 points and 7.9
rebounds as a junior, and 9.3 points and 6.7 rebounds as a senior; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Diener will be remembered for several amazing
feats during her time at Wagner College; during a game against Robert
Morris, she posted the third-highest single-game rebound total in Wagner
College history with 24, and tied a college record for steals in a NEC
Tournament Game; and

WHEREAS, Athletes such as Michelle Diener provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Michelle Diener for
her extraordinary athletic accomplishments which are a tribute to her
skill, dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Michelle Diener upon the occasion of her induction into the
SUNY Orange Colt Athletic Hall of Fame on November 4, 2017; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michelle Diener.
