COMMENDING Chris Andre upon the occasion of his
induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball
Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District on February 10, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those
individuals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy
in their communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Chris Andre upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District on Saturday, February 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The outstanding efforts, commitment, and past
accomplishments of Chris Andre on the hardwood have helped shape the
history of the Warwick Valley Wildcats Basketball Team and serve as an
inspiration to the current generation of players; and

WHEREAS, A 1978 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Chris Andre
was a three-year player on the varsity basketball team, playing under
the able tutelage of Coaches Mark Kurtz and Les Grigsby; and

WHEREAS, During his senior year, Chris Andre was the Captain of the
Wildcats, and led the team in rebounds, blocked shots and free throw
shooting percentage; he averaged more than 12 points a game and was
selected to both the Vernon High School Holiday All-Tournament Team and
the Orange County League All County All Star Team, and participated in
the OCIAA Exceptional Senior Basketball Game; and

WHEREAS, During his high school basketball career, Chris Andre never
missed a practice or a game; at the time of his graduation, he held
several boys' basketball records including 10 blocked shots in a game,
52 blocked shots during his career, and an 85% free-throw shooting
average; and

WHEREAS, Chris Andre attended Orange Community College where he was
a two-year starter for the men's basketball team; after transferring to
Marist College, he earned his degree in communications; and

WHEREAS, Athletes like Chris Andre provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and

WHEREAS, Chris Andre has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth
of the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
his impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chris Andre upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick

Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chris Andre.
