COMMENDING Gavin Hannah upon the occasion of his
induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball
Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District on February 10, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those
individuals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy
in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Gavin Hannah upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District on Saturday, February 10, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The outstanding efforts, commitment, and past
accomplishments of Gavin Hannah on the hardwood have helped shape the
history of the Warwick Valley Wildcats Basketball Team and serve as an
inspiration to the current generation of players; and
WHEREAS, A 2010 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Gavin Hannah
was a two-year starter on the varsity basketball team, playing under the
able tutelage of Head Coach Tom Folino; and
WHEREAS, During his senior year, Gavin Hannah lead the Wildcats to
the Section IX tournament, and the OCIAA Division II finals; and
WHEREAS, Gavin Hannah finished his outstanding career as the 15th
all-time leading scorer in Wildcat history with 557 points; he averaged
more than 13 points and seven rebounds per game in both his junior and
senior years; and
WHEREAS, During his junior year, Gavin Hannah was selected MVP for
the season, and MVP of the Jim Taravella Tournament; during his senior
year, he was named Offensive Player of the Year, and was a member of the
BCANY Section IX Class AA All-Star Team; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Gavin Hannah earned his
degree in fitness development and a minor in sports management from SUNY
Cortland; today, he serves as the field marketing coordinator for the
Red Bulls Professional soccer team; and
WHEREAS, Athletes like Gavin Hannah provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Gavin Hannah has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
his impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Gavin Hannah upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Gavin Hannah.
