COMMENDING Tom Folino upon the occasion of his
induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball
Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District on February 10, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those
individuals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy
in their communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Tom Folino upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District on Saturday, February 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The outstanding efforts, commitment, and past
accomplishments of Tom Folino on the hardwood have helped shape the
history of the Warwick Valley Wildcats Basketball Team and serve as an
inspiration to the current generation of players; and

WHEREAS, A 1976 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Tom Folino
was a two-year starter on the varsity basketball team, playing under the
able tutelage of Head Coach Vito Magdelinskas and Coach Mark Kurtz; and

WHEREAS, During his junior year, Tom Folino helped lead the team to
an overall record of 16-6; during his senior year, the team played in
the Section IX Class B Championship game against Nanuet; he finished his
outstanding high school career with 241 total wins; and

WHEREAS, After earning his degree, Tom Folino returned to his alma
mater and served as the Coach of the boys basketball team for 25 years;
throughout his tenure, his teams won two Class AA Division II
Championships, and qualified for the Section IX Basketball Tournament 12
times; and

WHEREAS, In addition, two of his teams advanced to the Class B
semi-finals and two others received the Section IX Class AA Team
Sportsmanship Award; and

WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to the sport,
Tom Folino was the recipient of the 2016-2017 Jim Taravella Memorial
Coaches Award; and

WHEREAS, Tom Folino was also the founder and Director of the Warwick
AAU Spring Basketball Program, and Director of both the Summer Boys
Basketball Camp and the Coaches vs. Cancer Warwick Basketball Class
Tournament, as well as founder of the Boys Basketball Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Athletes like Tom Folino provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and

WHEREAS, Tom Folino has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth
of the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
his impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Tom Folino upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018 by the Warwick Valley
Central School District; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tom Folino.
