CONGRATULATING Jacqueline Grundfast upon the
occasion of being named among The Mars Generation's
24 Under 24 Leaders and Innovators in STEAM and
Space

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Jacqueline Grundfast upon the occasion of being named among
The Mars Generation's 24 Under 24 Leaders and Innovators in STEAM and
Space; and

WHEREAS, The Mars Generation (TMG) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit
organization which aims to excite and educate students and adults about
the importance of human space exploration and STEAM education to the
future of humankind; and

WHEREAS, With an advisory board that includes astronauts, engineers,
scientists and professionals, TMG has served more than 10,200 students
and adults from around the world through programs such as its Student
Space Ambassador Program, Future of Space Outreach Program and Space
Camp Scholarship; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Warwick Valley High School, Jacqueline
Grundfast was one of 24 students, ages 13-24, recognized with this
auspicious award, including 13 young scientists from the United States,
three from Canada and one each from Australia, Brazil, Kosovo, Nigeria,
Thailand, Turkey and Uruguay; and

WHEREAS, With a true love of space, Jacqueline Grundfast works
tirelessly to inspire her community to do the same; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary young woman established the Warwick
Valley Central School District Astronomy Club, and she can also be found
judging STEAM Fairs in her district as well as teaching and mentoring
young students in their research and science studies; this work inspired
her to secure funding from her school district to build a robotic
telescope for her community, promoting night sky exploration; and

WHEREAS, In addition to doing a tremendous amount of outreach for
her community, Jacqueline Grundfast is a remarkable high school student
and a member of numerous national scholar societies; and

WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Jacqueline Grundfast continued success throughout her
school years and beyond; and

WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Jacqueline Grundfast represents the best development of the potential

which is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jacqueline Grundfast upon the occasion of being named among
The Mars Generation's 24 Under 24 Leaders and Innovators in STEAM and
Space; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jacqueline Grundfast.
