COMMEMORATING the 60th Anniversary of the Lutheran
Elementary School of Bay Ridge on April 13, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of the Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Lutheran Elementary School of
Bay Ridge, to be recognized with a 1957 Prom Celebration on Friday,
April 13, 2018, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Lutheran Elementary School of Bay Ridge (LES) has been
a mainstay of the community since its founding in February of 1957, by
one of the most dynamic churches in Brooklyn, Bethlehem Lutheran Church;
and

WHEREAS, The Lutheran Elementary School of Bay Ridge offers the
highest quality education in a nurturing, yet challenging environment
for children in nursery school through grade eight; its staff has an
extraordinary breadth of expertise and gets to know each child
individually; and

WHEREAS, A fully accredited school, the Lutheran Elementary School
of Bay Ridge is chartered by the New York State Board of Regents of the
New York State Education Department; and

WHEREAS, The Lutheran Elementary School of Bay Ridge is proud to
offer a strong education in all critical areas: English, science,
mathematics, social studies, history, geography, civics,
technology/computers, religion, music and art; and

WHEREAS, After six decades, the Lutheran Elementary School of Bay
Ridge continues to provide its children with an outstanding education in
an environment which models Christian values; and

WHEREAS, The Lutheran Elementary School of Bay Ridge has continually
demonstrated an impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an
unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of educational programs and
opportunities offered for the benefit of its faculty and students as
well as for the entire community; and

WHEREAS, The steadfast and unyielding commitment of parents,
educators and administrators to provide the highest quality education
for students has become the hallmark and tradition of the Lutheran
Elementary School of Bay Ridge; and

WHEREAS, Within the 21st Century, the Lutheran Elementary School of
Bay Ridge stands prepared to reach out, in earnest and enthusiastic
quest of its mission, to promote the maximum growth of every student,

establishing standards and building skills which will carry its students
and the citizens of its community into the future; and

WHEREAS, The Lutheran Elementary School of Bay Ridge is proudly
aware of its distinguished past, eager to fulfill its present commitment
to parents, students and the community, and planning with vision and
purpose for the ebb and swell of growth and change it will encounter in
the years to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Lutheran Elementary School of
Bay Ridge on April 13, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Lutheran Elementary School of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn,
New York.
