CONGRATULATING Scott Jordan upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the National Rural
Teacher of the Year Award by the National Rural
Education Association
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those
individuals whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Scott Jordan upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the National Rural Teacher of the Year Award by the
National Rural Education Association; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of Scott Jordan, the National Rural
Education Association noted his positive impact on students and the
number of female students who have become leaders in their class; the
National Rural Teacher of the Year Award is presented to a teacher who
is not only rigorous, but also allows students to have a positive impact
on their community; and
WHEREAS, For 25 Years, Scott Jordan of Cuba-Rushford Central School
has inspired students in his Fisheries and Wildlife Technology class,
and like all great teachers and mentors, he dares his students to think
big and reach for their dreams; his former students are working with
wildlife in Australia, Alaska, Hawaii and Oregon; and
WHEREAS, Scott Jordan's guidance, in addition to state grants and
local support, has given students a comprehensive wildlife education; it
has allowed his students to conduct real research outside of the
classroom; and
WHEREAS, Scott Jordan's Fisheries and Wildlife Technology class
enrolls nearly 60 students in grades 8-12, and goes beyond just fishing
and hunting; his goal is to help these students gain experience from his
class that they can carry with them into a successful future; and
WHEREAS, Scott Jordan's Fisheries and Wildlife Technology class
takes students as far away as New Zealand and as close to home as the
fish hatchery, log cabin and deer enclosure which he helped to build on
school grounds; and
WHEREAS, There are many remarkable stories in the world of
education, but few are as impressive as that of Scott Jordan who serves
as an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Scott Jordan upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the National Rural Teacher of the Year Award by the
National Rural Education Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Scott Jordan.
