Senate Resolution No. 4449

CONGRATULATING Brooke Becker upon the occasion of
being named the 2017-2018 All-Bee Player of the Year
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Brooke Becker upon the occasion of being named the
2017-2018 All-Bee Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS, A sophomore on the Frontier/Lake Shore/Orchard Park Girls
Hockey Team, Brooke Becker has helped lead her team to two Section VI
Championships, two Western New York Girls Hockey Federation titles, and
a New York State Championship; and
WHEREAS, Brooke Becker began her career with the Falcons as an
eighth-grader; last season, as a freshman, she scored 12 goals and added
19 assists to finish among the league leaders with 31 points; this
season, she scored 19 goals to lead all defensemen, and finished with 28
points; and
WHEREAS, During the state semifinal and finals games, Brooke Becker
scored two goals, and in the Federation final, she played strong defense
against the league's top-scoring team; and
WHEREAS, Brooke Becker recently tried out for the U18 Women's
National Team, and has already verbally committed to play hockey for
Providence College in Rhode Island after graduating; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be recognized by all members of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Brooke Becker upon the occasion of being named the
2017-2018 All-Bee Player of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brooke Becker.
