CELEBRATING the illustrious career of Chief Joseph
Fox, and congratulating him on his retirement after
more than 36 years of distinguished service to the
New York City Police Department

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community and their profession; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
celebrate the illustrious career of Chief Joseph Fox, and to
congratulate him on his retirement after more than 36 years of
distinguished service to the New York City Police Department; a party
will be held in his honor at Russo's On The Bay, Howard Beach, New York,
on Wednesday, May 30, 2018; and

WHEREAS, For more than 36 years, Joseph Fox served with the New York
City Police Department, retiring after serving six years as the head of
the NYPD's Transit Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Following in his father's footsteps, Joseph Fox joined the
New York City Police Department in July of 1981, beginning his law
enforcement career as a patrol officer in Brooklyn's 70th Precinct; and

WHEREAS, While ascending the ranks to three-star Chief, he has
commanded Patrol Borough Brooklyn South, Patrol Borough Queens South,
the Office of the Chief of Internal Affairs, and the Office of the
Deputy Commissioner of Training, as well as Brooklyn's 7161 Precinct;
and

WHEREAS, As head of the NYPD's Transit Bureau, Joseph Fox led a team
of more than 2,600 men and woman who secure the nation's busiest
metropolitan rail system; and

WHEREAS, Now retired from public service, Joseph Fox is currently
employed as the Chief of Staff with SilverSeal, a full service Global
Security firm based in New York and London; he also continues to couple
his decades of law enforcement experience with his unique leadership
style to teach and motivate others; and

WHEREAS, A renowned communicator, Joseph Fox expertly translates the
power of personal loss throughout his life into purposeful messages that
inspire others; through speaking engagements, executive leadership
coaching, and personal development, he conveys a life's worth of lessons
to others in law enforcement and in the private sector; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Fox holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Security
Management from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and is a graduate
of the Police Management Institute at Columbia University; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of his dedication, commitment and efforts on
behalf of his community and his profession, it is the sense of this
Legislative Body to extend its highest commendation to Chief Joseph Fox,
and to congratulate him on his much deserved retirement after more than
36 years of distinguished service to the New York City Police
Department; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the illustrious career of Chief Joseph Fox, and to wish him
well in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chief Joseph Fox.
