HONORING Jeff Weiss and Glennpeter Jewelers
Diamond Centre upon the occasion of their
designation as recipient of the Corporate Partner of
the Year Award by the Northeastern Association of
the Blind at Albany on April 21, 2018
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals and businesses it wishes to recognize
for their valued contributions to the success and progress of society
and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic
humanity among us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jeff Weiss
and Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond Centre upon the occasion of their
designation as recipient of the Corporate Partner of the Year Award by
the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany, to be celebrated at
its Annual Visionary Gala, on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Franklin
Plaza Ballroom, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 1908, the Northeastern Association of the Blind at
Albany (NABA) has provided comprehensive services and programs to
residents of the greater Capital Region who are blind or visually
impaired; in 2016, they helped over 900 individuals of all ages across
14 counties adapt to vision loss, maximize remaining vision, achieve
their goals, and expand their independence; and
WHEREAS, In addition, NABA offered screenings to over 4,000 children
between 18 months and five years of age for possible vision problems;
and
WHEREAS, Jeff Weiss, GIA, and Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond Centre,
located on Central Avenue in Albany, New York, have a long and
distinguished history of partnering with local nonprofit organizations
and charities, including personally mentoring a "Little" in Big Brothers
Big Sisters for more than 20 years; and
WHEREAS, As President and CEO of Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond Centre,
Jeff Weiss has made community service part of the company's mission
statement and part of the culture of the company, opening its doors to
approximately 20 organizations each month; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond
Centre has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond Centre is in
direct correlation to the efforts of Jeff Weiss and his staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the business and the community
it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Jeff Weiss and
Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond Centre; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and businesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jeff Weiss and Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond Centre upon the
occasion of their designation as recipient of the Corporate Partner of
the Year Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jeff Weiss, President and CEO, Glennpeter Jewelers
Diamond Centre, Albany, New York.
