CELEBRATING the 15th Pastoral Anniversary of The
Reverend Dr. Damone Paul Johnson and First Lady
Angela Johnson
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life
in this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the
faithful concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their
energies and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish
themselves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and
preeminence of service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to celebrate the 15th
Pastoral Anniversary of The Reverend Dr. Damone Paul Johnson and First
Lady Angela Johnson; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Damone Paul Johnson has served as Senior
Pastor at Metropolitan New Testament Mission Baptist Church in Albany,
New York, for 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Under his able leadership, Metropolitan New Testament
Mission Baptist Church has reached more than 2,000 members; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Damone Paul Johnson ordained one and licensed
seven ministers into the Gospel Ministry, and was instrumental in
construction of a state-of-the-art worship facility, as well as the
acquisition of multiple properties and land parcels in the Arbor Hill
Community; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he established the Metropolitan Community
Group, Inc., the Light and Life Discipleship Institute and Youth Church;
he also expanded the Foreign Mission Outreach; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Damone Paul Johnson conferred the Doctorate in
Ministry degree from Christian Theological Seminary and received an
Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from St. Thomas Christian College;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to authoring the book and study guide, A Life
Worth Rebuilding, Dr. Damone Paul Johnson was a contributing writer in
the "Athens and Oxford Sermons" at Oxford University in London, England,
as well as in Teacher's Guides published by the National Baptist
Convention USA, Inc. Sunday School Publishing Board; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Damone Paul Johnson has brought to his
ministry an overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from
vision and enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual
duties, while always displaying the highest standards of personal and
professional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Dr. Damone Paul Johnson currently serves as Vice
President-at-Large of the Empire Baptist Missionary Convention of New
York, Inc., Congress of Christian Education; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given
enlightenment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and
has administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and
corporal needs of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the 15th Pastoral Anniversary of The Reverend Dr. Damone Paul
Johnson and First Lady Angela Johnson, noting their unremitting and
compassionate faith and their exemplary service to God, man, and their
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Reverend Dr. Damone Paul Johnson and First Lady
Angela Johnson.
