HONORING AVillage, Inc. upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2018 Community
Champion Award by the Trinity Alliance of the
Capital Region
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
AVillage, Inc. upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the
2018 Community Champion Award by the Trinity Alliance of the Capital
Region, to be celebrated at its Annual Gala, "Time, Tradition, Trinity,"
on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the New York State Museum, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in August of 2009 by Willie White, AVillage, Inc.
is a grassroots, non-profit organization with a steadfast dedication to
developing the South End of Albany, New York, through the creation of
new programs and initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, AVillage improves the
quality of life for residents of the South End, by reclaiming the
neighborhoods and by encouraging, engaging, and empowering the
communities; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the
community, AVillage, in partnership with Trinity Alliance, is unveiling
a new initiative entitled REACH: Rapid Engagement & Advocacy for
Community Health; and
WHEREAS, This vital program will address public health issues and
the social determinants of health, particularly for people living in the
South End, Arbor Hill and West Hill neighborhoods within Albany; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, AVillage has demonstrated
continuous service to the residents and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of AVillage is in direct correlation to the
efforts of its staff, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to AVillage; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor AVillage, Inc. upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the 2018 Community Champion Award by the Trinity Alliance of the
Capital Region; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Willie White, Executive Director, AVillage, Inc.
