HONORING Christopher Pappis upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Sons
of Pericles on April 29, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Christopher G. Pappis upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Sons of Pericles, to be celebrated with an Awards
Brunch on Sunday, April 29, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Christopher George Pappis was born on July 24, 1985, to
Daughters of Penelope Past District Governor Karen Takes Pappis and
Chapter No. 140 four term Past President and 2010 AHEPAN of the Year,
George L. Pappis; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed man has served as Chapter Secretary of the
Albany Chapter of the Order of AHEPA for the past two years, and was
unanimously elected as AHEPA District No. 6 Secretary at the June 2015
District Convention in Albany, New York, diligently serving both
positions concurrently; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to the organization, Christopher Pappis has
been a key member of the Chapter program committee handling donations of
gifts to the Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany
Medical Center during the Christmas season; and

WHEREAS, In addition, he has co-chaired numerous events and
activities such as the AHEPA Children's Christmas Party, the Greek
Independence Day Program, OXI Day Celebration, and assisted in the
Veterans Program; and

WHEREAS, As District Secretary, Christopher Pappis has made numerous
chapter visitations, coordinated all documents and paperwork regarding
district dues and obligations to National Headquarters, acted as liaison
to many activities with the Sons of Pericles, and is in constant
communication with the District Governor and Lodge Officers to assure
smooth operation of AHEPA District No. 6; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Pappis was raised in Albany, New York,
attending St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, where he continues to serve
as an altar boy and St. Sophia Webmaster; he has also participated in
numerous activities and events such as the Annual Greek Festival,
reviewing the weekly bulletin for publication, and Adult Religious
Education; and

WHEREAS, After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics:
Adolescence Education from the College of Saint Rose, Christopher Pappis

went on to attain a Master of Science degree in Education with a
concentration in Educational Technology, achieving a GPA of 4.0; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Pappis also holds a New York State Initial
Certification as an Educational Technology Specialist, a New York State
Initial Certification in Mathematics Education 7-12, and a New York
State Initial Certification in Mathematics 5-6 Extension; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Christopher Pappis has
displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Christopher Pappis, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Christopher Pappis upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Sons of Pericles on April 29, 2018; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Christopher Pappis.
