HONORING Stev and Patti Bettman upon the occasion
of their designation for special recognition by
Temple Beth Shalom on May 6, 2018

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
its esteemed citizens who have distinguished themselves in their
community; and

WHEREAS, Stev and Patti Bettman will be honored upon the occasion of
their designation for special recognition by Temple Beth Shalom during
its 65th Anniversary Gala to be held at the Salem Golf Club on Sunday,
May 6, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Stev Bettman held several leadership positions at Temple
Beth Shalom, including serving five years as President; and

WHEREAS, Stev Bettman created the popular Blooming Seed Coffee House
and was instrumental in establishing a temple-wide inclusive process for
a Rabbi Search when the Temple needed a new Rabbi; and

WHEREAS, When Stev Bettman headed the Temple Beth Shalom Youth
Group, the Temple hosted more than 125 children, with staff, for Kinnus;
most all Temple members volunteered that weekend to make it a success;
and

WHEREAS, Patti Bettman was one of the first members of the Israeli
Scout Committee; and

WHEREAS, Patti Bettman is an active member of the Temple's
Programming Committee; and

WHEREAS, Patti Bettman contributes her time to nearly every Temple
event, whether it is a fundraiser, spiritual celebration, recreational
event, or any other occasion, she is involved; and

WHEREAS, Stev and Patti Bettman are wonderful role models and
tremendous assets to Temple Beth Shalom; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stev and Patti Bettman upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by Temple Beth Shalom on May 6, 2018; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Stev and Patti Bettman.
