HONORING Natasha Esteves upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Community Service
Award by The Brooklyn Club of the National
Association of Negro Business and Professional
Women's Clubs, Inc.

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Natasha Esteves has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Natasha
Esteves upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Community Service Award by The Brooklyn Club of the National Association
of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., to be celebrated
at its 51st Annual Founders' Day Observance, "Empowering Communities and
Shaping Lives," on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Gargiulo's Restaurant,
Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, Natasha
Esteves graduated from Boys and Girls High School (BGHS), during which
time she received the Survivors' Award for her dramatic change and
direction in life; she went on to attend Borough of Manhattan Community
College and Virginia Union University (VUU), earning her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Natasha Esteves began her career as a substitute teacher
with the Department of Education (DOE) and a family worker in the
Bedford Stuyvesant Community, where she became inspired to help those in
need; and

WHEREAS, While working full time at the DOE, Natasha Esteves used
this inspiration to earn her Master of Social Work degree in Community
Organizing, Planning, and Development at Hunter College; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, Natasha Esteves began working at the
Bedford Stuyvesant Community Partnership Program where she was able to
use her personal and professional connections and relationships to help
rebuild partnerships; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the years, with her vast experiences in the
nonprofit sector, education system, mentally disabled, youth offenders,
children services, foster care and community based organizations,
Natasha Esteves has developed a passion for effective change in her
community; and

WHEREAS, Natasha Esteves has flourished and grown into a truly
amazing grassroots community organizer; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Natasha Esteves has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Natasha Esteves, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Natasha Esteves upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Community Service Award by The Brooklyn Club of the National
Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc.; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Natasha Esteves.
